SORAA have chosen the Ideaworks Experience Centre as the venue to host a series of events in April and May to showcase their amazing lighting technology to fellow lighting industry professionals.
The first of which will be an intimate and exclusive evening hosted by the team behind SORAA innovation and the quest for perfect light. We also have the great privilege of featuring special guest – SORAA co-founder and Nobel laureate – Dr. Shuji Nakamura.
Professor at the College of Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), Nakamura is widely regarded as the inventor of the blue LED, and was awarded the 2014 Nobel Prize for Physics.
Responsible for creating the white LED and blue laser diodes used in Blu-ray technology and holder of over 100 patents, Nakamura and fellow UCSB professors Dr. Steven DeBaars and Dr. James Speck, founded SORAA in 2008.
Nakamura will speak candidly about his work, highlighting the driving force that sent him and his team against every other trend in the LED industry to beat the odds to become the only LED manufacturer using perfect GaN on GaN™ crystals for its products, boasting superior colour rendering and beam characteristics.
